The first ”Leaders for a New Chicago” awards have been announced
The inaugural Leaders for a New Chicago awards have been announced by the organisers of the award, the MacArthur Foundation and the Field Foundation.
The awards, announced in February to help foster a ”more equitable and just Chicago”, recognise 14 community based organisers and leaders who best represent the many communities, disciplines and broad diversity of Chicago. A cash prize of $25,000 is awarded to each individual, along with a matching payment to their organisation, should it be a non-profit.
The organisers of the award and the selection committee believe that these individuals can help ”to retell the story of what a leader looks like—and it looks like Chicago”.
