Cultivated Lands
After years of being uncultivated or abandoned, approximately 100 hectares of lands in southern Italy has been worked back into use for growing crops and raising cattle as a result of the Cultivated Lands project, a 3 million euros initiative started by Fondazione CON IL SUD and Enel Cuore Onlus in 2017.
The land has however been transformed into more than just farmland and is a socially focused project employing almost 180 people who need help integrating into the labour market. The project seeks to provide this through education and trust, and is helping people with disabilities, ex-prisoners, victims of gender-based violence, unemployed young people and migrants to learn valuable skills and better integrate into local communities.
